Theilden is a colony state governed by the provincial official Lord Grenwal Forbrien of Heralden. This human-dominated land is the northernmost state on the island, and has both a formidable naval defense and a wall along its southern border. Traditionally conservative, Theilden does very little trade or cultural sharing with other states on the island. Most of its commerce is done with the homeland of Heralden, and there are numerous large plantations covering most of the territory. This has led to a large gap between the wealthy and the workers of Theilden, and indentured servitude is common for criminals and debtors.
The provincial capital of Theilden is Maethrim, a large port town that covers roughly 75 square miles and has a population of nearly 200,000 people. It is densely urban and known throughout Heralden as a pit of gambling and crime in its slums and elaborate finery for the small noble population. Lord Forbrien lives in a large mansion in the center of the walled "Garden District." There are two other major cities in Theilden, Forvelien and Lura. Both are port cities.
The demographics of Theilden are roughly as follows: 92% Human, 6% Halfling, 1% Elven, <1% Dwarven, <1% Other Races. Most of the Halfling citizens are merchants that travel within the other states on the island. The few other races present are largely emissaries, ambassadors, and the rare wanderer.
